How you can help
There are many ways to help caribou! Start with learning about them, the many factors that influence them, and how they are managed. The Caribou Conservation Alliance creates a network of expertise and builds projects, but receives no government funding. Your fundraising and advocating efforts help the Caribou Conservation Alliance and partners to educate and support caribou conservation initiatives. No matter who you are and what your skill set is, here are some ways you can help caribou:
Celebrate World Caribou Day on June 6th!
Learn more caribou and the issues they face
Teach your family and friends about caribou
Encourage your parents to get involved in caribou conservation
Teach your children or students about caribou using educational resources available on our website
Visit and support our partner organizations (e.g., Calgary Zoo, Toronto Zoo, African Lion Safari, Leavenworth Reindeer Farm)
Participate at or host scientific conferences and professional meetings
Contact government programs to let them know you support caribou conservation and habitat preservation initiatives.
Donate directly to the Caribou Conservation Alliance
Raise funds to help the Caribou Conservation Alliance develop educational and outreach material and build projects. Our supporters have fundraised in very creative ways that include:
Bake sale: Organize events to sell caribou-themed homemade baked goods (cakes, cookies and pastries).
Lemonade stand: Set up a stall to sell homemade lemonade. Wear antlers and decorate the stand with caribou images!
Walk-a-thon or fun run: Supporters pledge to give a specified amount once one or more participants complete the walk/run or on a per-lap or per-km basis. Walk-a-thons and fun runs bring communities together, promote an active lifestyle and invite participation from people of all ages!
Spaghetti dinner fundraiser: Organize a communal meal where attendees purchase tickets to enjoy spaghetti or any other meal.
Collect recyclable: Organize a recycling drive to raise funds
Photo or art auction: Photographers or artists can auction a picture print or art piece online.
